Mullite refractory castable is advanced refractory materials primarily composed of mullite (3Al₂O₃·2SiO₂) as the main phase, offering high refractoriness, excellent thermal shock resistance, and superior resistance to chemical erosion. They are extensively used as linings for industrial furnaces in steel, glass, ceramics, and cement industries. ·High refractoriness: Withstands temperatures up to 1700–1800°C due to mullite’s stable crystalline structure and Al₂O₃ content (60–75%). Ideal for prolonged high-temperature operations in oxidizing atmospheres. ·Superior thermal shock resistance: Low thermal expansion coefficient (~4.5×10⁻⁶/℃) enables resistance to rapid temperature fluctuations (>20 cycles at ΔT=1000°C). ·Erosion/corrosion resistance: Resists attack from acidic/alkaline slags, alkali vapors, and molten metals (e.g., iron, glass).
Steel Industry: used for linings for blast furnaces, hot blast stoves, and torpedo ladles.
Glass Industry: used for high temperature linings in glass melting furnace and regenerators.
Ceramics Industry:used for linings for ceramic kiln(e.g. tunnel kilns, shuttle kilns).
Cement Industry: used for lining of cement rotary kiln.
